After graduating college and contemplating what she wanted to do, she was introduced to the Scrum Master role by her sister’s former roommate, Nicole Awasung. She remembered laughing at the name, Scrum Master, but was intrigued to learn more. She decided to do her research and committed time to join the Agile community of practice in Boston where she networked and landed her first Scrum Master opportunity. After landing her first Scrum Master role, she was excited and anxious to embark on the journey, yet hesitant due to her shy nurture. She immediately realized that the role comes with a level of respect and leadership that allowed her to be able to influence others without any hierarchical authority. It was this realization that encouraged her to build authentic relationships with her team members, managers, and peers. While fostering meaningful connections, the team members were able to bring their best selves to work each day as they relentlessly expressed their gratitude for working with her. The 30-60-90-day strategic guide for getting up to speed seamlessly was inspired by her process of coaching new and transitioning Scrum Masters in the industry. She has always wanted to share with others the information she wished she had received as someone breaking into the field so that they could effortlessly make a smoother transition. She believed in the power of sharing. Her desire to help others stems from the idea that ‘it takes a village to raise a child.’ This resonated with her because she was raised by a community, and part of giving back is to support others in their journey.
